Plantcestry was born in 2020 to help people reconnect—with each other, with nature, and with a sense of purpose. Rooted in compassion and community, Plantcestry invites anyone to join for free by receiving a shared plant. As you pass along your own cuttings, you help grow a living family tree—connecting hands, hearts, and homes across the country.

Now more than ever, we believe that sharing plants can spark hope, kindness, and belonging. Because like plants, every person deserves a chance to thrive.

Plantcestry is growing—rooted in people who care.

Become an Early Adopter

Plantcestry began with a simple idea: that sharing a plant can create connection, carry memory, and grow community. As we continue to build, we’re inviting a small group of Early Adopters to help shape what Plantcestry becomes.

Early Adopters aren’t just testers—they’re co-creators. Your lived experience, curiosity, and care help guide our priorities, refine our features, and ensure Plantcestry grows in a way that stays true to its mission. No matter your level of plant experience, your voice matters here.

This Early Adopter phase is expected to last six to twelve months, with opportunities to share feedback through periodic sessions and short surveys. We’ll do our best to schedule sessions with respect for time zones and work schedules.

Before applying, please review the Early Adopter membership options for Individuals and Partner Organizations to determine which path is the best fit

Early Adopters: Individuals

As an individual Early Adopter, you’ll help us understand how Plantcestry fits into everyday plant sharing—between friends, families, and communities.

We ask that Individual Early Adopters:

  • Participate in occasional feedback sessions and surveys

  • Share propagations from at least two different plants, helping us learn how plant lines grow and travel

  • Align with and support Plantcestry’s mission, vision, and values

In return, you’ll help ensure that Plantcestry remains welcoming, meaningful, and easy to use for people at every stage of their plant journey.

Early Adopters: Partner Organizations

Partner Organizations play a vital role in helping Plantcestry grow responsibly and sustainably. As a Partner Early Adopter, you’ll help us explore how the platform can support community groups, nurseries, nonprofits, and other mission-aligned organizations.

We ask that Partner Early Adopters:

  • Participate in periodic feedback sessions focused on organizational needs and use cases

  • Share propagations in ways that reflect community-based or educational plant sharing

  • Align with and support Plantcestry’s mission, vision, and values

Your insight will help shape features that honor both grassroots sharing and responsible organizational participation.

If you have received a plant from an Early Adopter member, please register it as a GIFTEE member on our platform.

Step 1: Register your plant.

If you received a plant from a current Plantcestry member (your Giftor), you can register it for free. Just be sure to select the Giftee membership, which is required to register a gifted plant.

Step 2: That’s it—for now.

Registering your plant automatically gives you a free Seed membership. No further action is needed at this time—we’ll keep you updated as Plantcestry grows.

What’s coming next?

We will send updates, and your Giftor will keep you posted on new features, including when you’ll be able to see your plant on the Plantcestry Map and, if you choose, track any propagations you share in the future.

Dedicate a Plant Line

Since the pandemic began, we've all experienced our own way of dealing with the loneliness and isolation. Through Plantcestry, you can dedicate an Original Plant Line in honor or in memory of a loved one.

Plants and people come in all colors, shapes and sizes - a powerful message to help us connect and celebrate our differences. You can watch your dedicated plant line grow through all who receive a propagation, and feel the connection and sense of renewal this simple act provides.
